Description: The assignment this week is to summarize our learning for this term and how are we going to use that knowledge to improve the use of technology in my classroom and in personal and professional development.

Impact: One thing that I learned this term is that, although very versed in Texas Instruments Navigator, I am somewhat inadequate in the use of other technologies in my classroom. There are so many resources out there, many of which are free, that I have not scratched the surface of using. Math, if not taught vibrantly, can become extremely dry. By incorporating other available technologies, I can strive to make my classroom more exhilarating.

Intent: It is my intention to familiarize myself with many of the technologies I have learned about this year. One of which I will incorporate from the beginning of the school year is having my students set up and use an Edmondo account. Students today are very familiar with social networking and this would be an ideal way for them to communicate with me and other students in the class.

Another intention is to help my colleagues with their Navigator training. We have many teachers in our building to have a Navigator at their disposal but do not know how to use it effectively. Having this technology and not using it is sadly a waste. However, I have already talked to my principle about doing a workshop during staff development to help these teachers.
I am also planning to attend other technology conferences in addition to the Texas Instruments conference. To learn about the technology I have to be exposed to it. This will only happen by exploring what is out there.

I have found this term to be an eye-opening experience that made me realize that I might be considered a “techey” but I am a long ways away from being a technology facilitator.
